This application delivers notifications to users for Earthquake Early Warnings, Tsunami Warnings, Volcanic Warnings, Weather Warnings, Heat Illness Warnings, and Civil Protection Information issued in Japan. Developed under the supervision of the Japan Tourism Agency, it serves as a valuable tool for foreign tourists in Japan offering functionalities in five languages: English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

Main functions and their utility:

• Receive alerts for Earthquake Early Warnings, Tsunami Warnings, Volcanic Warnings, Weather Warnings, Heat Illness Warnings, and Civil Protection Information. To start receiving warnings, select up to five locations in Japan from the Settings Menu before utilizing the application for the first time (*). Notifications will be sent for local earthquakes with seismic intensity level 4 or greater, Tsunami Warnings, Volcanic Warnings, Emergency Warnings, Heat Illness Alerts or Civil Protection Information in the chosen areas. Note that devices not updated with a prediction point change for over one month from the last setting adjustment will not receive notifications. Enabling automatic prediction point setting ensures continued notification even after a month since initial selection.
• Earthquakes: Details on recent earthquakes with a magnitude of 3 or higher.
• Weather Warnings: Updates on Weather Alerts (heavy rain, floods, strong winds, severe snowstorms, heavy snowfall, high seas, storm surges) and Emergency Alerts for selected locations.
• Volcanic Warnings: Currently active Volcanic Alerts.
• Heat Illness Warnings: Current Heat Illness Notices.
• Medical Facilities: A directory of healthcare centers catering to foreign visitors (Sourced from the Japan Tourism Agency).
• Evacuation Guidance: Offers evacuation instructions and advice along with Shelter Information. (*Links to an external application.)
• Learning Materials: Educational content about disaster preparedness.
• Communication Cards: Queries to communicate effectively during emergency situations.
• Emergency Contacts: Helpline numbers for emergencies.
• Links: Directs to essential disaster-related sources such as embassy contacts, nearby tourist information centers, and other relevant tourism details.
• Civil Protection Information: Safety Tips shares Civil Protection Information inclusive of guidance on ballistic missile attacks as provided by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency.
